About CertWorthIt

Overview

CertWorthIt is a data-driven reference that measures whether professional certificates actually appear in hiring. It scans 362,748 job ads collected through the Adzuna API across ten countries — the United States, United Kingdom, India, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, France, Germany, Italy and Poland — and applies AI-assisted extraction to count how often each credential is named. Every figure links back to the underlying ads and posting counts.

Structure and tools

Coverage spans 78 certifications with job-ad data, grouped by field (cloud and DevOps, cybersecurity, data and analytics, IT support and networking, project management, AI, Agile and Scrum), by role, and in an A–Z index. Head-to-head pages place rivals side by side (CAPM vs PMP, CCNA vs CCNP, CISSP vs OSCP), a four-question quiz maps a target job to likely credentials, methodology documentation explains the counting rules, and an optional email report delivers country-level figures.

What the data shows

The pattern is consistent: industry certifications outrank course certificates in employer language. PMP appears in 24% of US project manager ads, CompTIA A+ in 20% of IT support ads, and OSCP in 73% of the cyber ads it targets, while Google Career Certificates rarely surface — Google Data Analytics in 7 of 6,094 data analyst ads. Skills such as SQL (42%) and SIEM (58%) are named far more often than any certificate.

Pros

  • Aggregates 362,748 job ads from the Adzuna API across ten countries and 78 certifications, giving each credential a comparable share-of-ads figure.
  • Separates three distinct signals — industry certifications, course certificates and plain skills — so PMP (24%) can be weighed against Google Project Management (19 of 59,273 ads).
  • Publishes a methodology page and links every statistic to its source, making the counting rules auditable rather than anecdotal.
  • Free interactive tooling includes a four-question job quiz, A–Z certificate index, per-role pages and side-by-side comparisons such as CCNA vs CCNP.
  • Localized into seven languages (EN, PT-BR, ES, FR, DE, IT, PL) with per-country rankings for the ten markets tracked.

Cons

  • All counts derive from a single job-board source, so employer naming habits on other platforms or internal postings are not represented.
  • Course-certificate mentions are frequently so rare that results appear as fractions of a few thousand ads, which limits the statistical weight of those comparisons.
  • Country-specific report delivery requires an email address, and the site discloses affiliate links on outbound certification pages.
